Our principal lawyer, Amandeep Hayer* is an active member of the legal community in Canada and the United States. Amandeep currently serves as an executive member of the Canadian Bar Association of British Columbia’s Immigration Law Section. Amandeep has also presented at legal conferences throughout Canada and the United States, including events hosted by the American Immigration Lawyers Association (“AILA”) Colorado Chapter, the Canadian Bar Association, the Canadian Immigration Lawyers Association, the Colorado Bar Association, the Legal Education Society of Alberta, the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia, and the National Academy of Continuing Legal Education.
Amandeep Hayer has been recognized for his knowledge on issues involving Canadian citizenship by descent. He is a co-author of the book Maintaining Permanent Residence Status and Acquiring Citizenship, part of Emond’s Immigration Law Series. Amandeep has also appeared on behalf of the Canadian Bar Association’s National Immigration Law Section as a witness before the House of Commons Standing Committee on Citizenship and Immigration and the Senate Standing Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology on legislation related to Lost Canadians and citizenship by descent, including the recently enacted Bill C-3 (2025) An Act to amend the Citizenship Act, and its two predecessor bills, Bill C-71 An Act to amend the Citizenship Act (2024), and Bill S-245, An Act to amend the Citizenship Act (granting citizenship to certain Canadians).
